Sustainability
Pioneering sustainability in every build.
Sustainability
In 2021, we recognised the need to demonstrate our commitment to environmental controls, energy efficiency and the wider sustainability of both our services and business infrastructure. It meant delivering economic progress whilst being mindful of the environment that we operate in.
In 2023 we updated our sustainability plans and strategy and committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). We aim to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by up to 42% by 2030, and measure and reduce our scope 3 emissions. We will work collaboratively with our partners and clients to achieve these outcomes.
We also joined the Supply Chain Sustainability School as Partner and Gold member.
Since then, we have:
- Hosted a workshop with the supply chain sustainability school and a number of key clients with a focus on working collaboratively to reduce our carbon emissions.
- Defined and launched key CO2 reduction initiatives to deliver on our SBTi commitment. These initiatives focus on key areas such as Fleet, Plant, Offices, Supply Chain, People, Waste and Client.
- Formed a Sustainability working group led by our CEO and leading members of our management team including our People Director, Director of Plant, Procurement Director, and Head of IT. The group meets regularly to drive performance against our sustainability targets and to develop future strategies.
- Introduced programs to educate our people on how they can support our strategy.
- Invested in low emission and hybrid equipment.
- Have a clear focus on the use of technology and data analysis to increase plant efficiency, reducing carbon burn per unit constructed.
- For our office space, we have sourced new providers guaranteeing energy provision from only renewable sources, including solar panel energy to our Head Office and West Midlands regional offices.
Throughout 2024, we will continue to work in partnership with our clients and supply chain; we recognise the need for collaboration to enable us to meet our targets and will do this through our strong relationship with the Supply Chain Sustainability School and our planned workshops.
Our support for the local communities we work in also remains a priority throughout 2024.
